Good Bye For Now

Hey, everyone. I have some difficult, but important news to share with you all.

After some serious thought and inner debate and discussion with my closest friends, I have decided to quit making Between The Lines for the indefinite future.

I have recently been very unhappy with its lack of growth, both in terms of readership and in story. The constant rapid deadlines have forced it onto rails that make me push this story in directions I don’t want it to go, and don’t give me the time or energy to correctly craft the story I WANT to be telling.

Between The Lines will someday return, in some form. Be that bringing back the webcomic with more planning, or writing it out as a series of books for the world, or some other format I don’t know of yet. I love these OCs with all of my heart and I love the tale that’s living inside my head, I just can’t correctly tell that story right now.

My Patreon account will be closed just before the first of May, so my donors do not need to worry about manually cancelling their subscriptions if they don’t come to that website very often. I don’t know yet if I’ll be coming back to Patreon in the future or switching to Ko-Fi or what have you.

As for the website of the comic itself, at the bare minimum it will stay up until I need to pay for it again, which should be around October, so readers who might still wish to catch up on the entire First Act can still do so for now!

You can continue following me on my Tumblr ( http://squirrelbro.tumblr.com/ ) or my Twitter ( https://twitter.com/thesquirrelbro ) for more new art and stories and updates on whatever my next projects will be!

Thank you to everyone who’s ever read my comic! Thanks especially to those who stuck with me from the beginning, and to Taylor, Red, and GG for being ridiculous enough to pay to have your characters in my world, and to my Mom for supporting me through it all!

I hope you’ll follow me along to whatever’s next!

August 2018 News!!

So we’re currently just a couple of days out from August, and Chapter 7 has just finished for my Patreon donors.

Many of you may know that I like to take short End of Chapter breaks for two or three weeks, but I want to try something new this time around. Instead of zero content updates for a few weeks, I’m instead going to move from posting two comic updates a week, to only posting once a week on Sundays for the duration of August.Sort of a Pseudo-Hiatus.(To Patreon donors specifically, I probably also won’t be doing Behind The Scenes posts during August.)

Everything will go back to normal in September (including the Q&A and Wallpaper features that I’ve recently lost track of, oops)

Also, I’d love to hear feedback if you prefer this method or the “radio silence for 2-3 weeks” method!

Thank you for your understanding and continued support!!

September 2016 News!

Two important news updates about my Patreon/Art this month!

First, starting today, September 1st, 2016, the Behind The Scenes Art that my Patreon Donors of 3 dollars or more get to see will no longer release every Thursday, but instead come out every OTHER Thursday.

This will not only allow for better quality over quantity of these sketches, which I believe will make this tier more worthwhile to the donors, but will also me some extra breathing room every month during the creation of my comic.

This is time I can use to improve my future webcomic pages, as well as work on other projects, including the Your Questions Answered Bonus Comics (that’ll happen soon, I promise), the Monthly Wallpapers that I’ll be starting as soon as I hit my first stretch goal of $50 a month, or, leading nicely into my second point, Commissions!

I currently only accept Commissions through the $15 Patreon Tier, but that’s about to change!

By the end of this month, I will open One Time Donation Commissions to all parties, ranging in price and size, for the people who maybe can’t afford a $15 commission, or just aren’t able to donate that every month through Patreon.

I don’t have a list of these prices yet, but more information will be posted on my Social Media Sites by the end of the month.

Between The Lines Patreon News – Changes to Tiers and Stretch Goals

So as the name of this news post implies, I’m officially changing two things about my Patreon.

The first change is that the lowest donation tier ($1 a month) is no longer 24 hour early updates. It will now give the Patron the ability to read three pages ahead of the standard website’s content. My reasoning for this is that –

a),  it will help me to stick to an easier and more structured update schedule that will allow me some more free time to work on other projects and remove some time-management involved stress

and b), it will likely be more of an incentive for the readers to want to donate to that tier, and the more Patrons I can get, the more I can give back to the comic.

This tier’s change will be placed into effect tomorrow, Sunday, July 24th, 2016, and $1 tier updates will continue to be updated alongside official site updates and $10 tier updates, as opposed to the day before.

(The $10 tier will still be 8 pages ahead of the website for now)

The other change I’m making is to the $50 stretch goal

That goal was originally a big full color desktop wallpaper of several BTL characters including many not yet released in the comic.

But I’m sorry to say that this is just too much work for me to do alone at this phase of my comic’s lifespan. (I would like to make a wallpaper like that one day, though)

So the new $50 stretch goal is once monthly desktop wallpapers. These wallpapers will be much more manageable in scope as compared to the original plan. Dealing with one or two or a handful of characters in each. Hopefully this will still be something that is interesting to the readers.

Between The Lines is now on Patreon!

My comic is now in full swing, but it still has a long way to go, and you can help make it grow into something even bigger!

If you donate to my Patreon, every dollar you give helps to give me the freedom to build and grow my comic, as well as give back to the readers and patrons! Depending on how much you donate, you’ll get access to some really cool stuff like behind the scenes art, exclusive comics about your questions, or even personal art commissions!

A full list of reward tiers can be found on my Patreon at http://patreon.com/squirrelbro, but you’ll get something if you even just donate a dollar!

Between The Lines is launching!!!

Over the next several days, I’m going to be posting every page from Between The Lines’s Prologue (a total of 14 pages) to get ready for Official Launch Day.

Then, starting on May 1st, 2016, I’m going to officially start regular updates on Sundays and Wednesdays from the beginning of Chapter 1!
